We often get asked when quoting for fence repairs or replacements what fence type we would recommend. This can depend on many factors but some of these include:

  • Whether you want to stay consistent with the existing fence and if the whole fence is being replaced or part of it
  • How long you want the fence to last for
  • The type of garden the fence is being constructed in
  • Your budget
  • Your preference on materials such as concrete vs wood
  • Any aesthetic preferences in the style of the fence
  • Height of the fence

After considering these variables, this should hopefully have narrowed down your choice to just a few!

To help further we have simplified the overwhelming fence choices out there to highlighted the 4 main fence types that are most common for a domestic fence. Find out more about these fence types below:
Feather Edge Fencing - This can also be known as close board fencing and offers a good secure option that is very sturdy. These are created using tapered boards that are secured vertically with fence posts to form a solid fence. You have the option of concrete or wooden posts and grave boards. This is a great option for heightened security and boundaries.

Picket Fencing - This type of fencing is mainly used for boundary edging (as illistrated in the image) and decorative purposes rather than for security or privacy. It can also be used for making sure pets and children are sucure in your garden!

Fence Panels - These can be traditional waney lap fence panels or close board panels. They are cost effective and you have the option of concrete or wooden posts and gravel boards. They are good for privacy and come in varying heights.
